19 September 2018: According to Grand View Research, Inc., the worldwide automotive brake systems market is expected to attain USD 31.11 billion by 2025. Automotive brake systems are extensively used in passenger cars and commercial vehicles to enable speed control and avoid skidding of vehicle. Different types of advanced brake systems include electronic brake-Force distribution (EBD), antilock braking system (ABS), traction control system (TCS), and electronic stability control (ESC), among others.
On 10 August 2017. Continental AG introduced a new wheel and brake concept for electric vehicle. The wheel rim composed of two aluminum parts, the internal aluminum carrier star with the aluminum brake disk and the external aluminum rim well with the tire. In contrary to traditional wheel brakes, in the new system, the brake engages the aluminum disk from the inside, which improves the braking performance.
On 30 October 2017 Valeo innovation SCALA laser scanner nominated for annual PACE Awards to be announced in April 2018. The scanner can detect stationary and moving objects up to 150 meters day or night and in all weather conditions. In automated mode, it takes full control of acceleration, steering, and brakes to offer safety.
In 2017, WABCO India, launched an ESC system called ESCsmart in India. The system can be applied in commercial vehicles such as trucks and buses. Tata Motors is likely to integrate the system in its Prima range of medium and heavy-duty trucks.
Technological innovations, growing production of vehicles due to increasing disposable income, and implementation of vehicle safety norms can propel the automotive brake systems market over the forecast period (2014 to 2025).
However, the high integration cost is the key restating factor for the market. Therefore, most of these systems are integrated only in premium and luxury cars.
Asia Pacific is likely to show significant growth due to increasing automobile production and acceptance of vehicle safety features.
Leading vendors operating in the market include Continental AG, Brembo S.p.A., Robert Bosch GmbH, Aisin Seiki Co., Ltd., and ZF Friedrichshafen AG.
